WELCOME TO BDA
'You get the best of both worlds'
Looking for an established dance school but want classes that are 'on trend'?
Are you looking for professional, educated and responsible teachers who are still fun, energetic and can smash out a game of musical statues?
You're looking for a structured and organised environment but still want to feel 'chillaxed'?
It's great to meet you!
With classes 6 days a week and multiple streams of classes (beginners to pre-professional) Backstage easily cater for a variety of ages and abilities with superb timetabling, many exciting and valuable opportunities, and fun in-house activities.
With clear and well thought out policies and procedures, the environment is safe, organised and structured. Backstage is dedicated to providing an environment that focuses on the children and young adults developing life skills including independence, confidence, resilience and organisation.
If you’re looking to start for the first time, or to pursue a career in dance, Backstage certainly has it all under the one roof.
It all started with a Disney Princess
After spending 2006 performing at Tokyo Disneyland as Sleeping Beauty, Jess Solomon was passionate and determined to develop a local dance studio that has the best of both worlds with the technical standard, choreography, and teaching quality of an inner-city studio, as well as the friendly community vibe of a suburban studio.
Over the years, Backstage has developed into one of the leading studios in Melbourne, expanding to all styles of dance and performing arts, as well as acrobatics, and cheerleading.
Well known for it's professional training and amazing opportunities, Backstage continues to evolve and innovate year after year.
Now located in state of the art 'theatre themed' facilities in Narre Warren, Backstage Dance Academy is a second home to 400 students and a place where many memories are made.

CAN WE DO A TRIAL?
Yes absolutely! Please contact us to find out class times OR use the booking form below to book your trial today.
You don't need to worry about organising uniform for your trial, we can help you organise that when you formally enrol.
CAN I WATCH THE CLASS?
Our students achieve more in their classes when they can focus on the teacher in a calm and controlled space. For this reason, classes are not open for viewing and parents/siblings cannot enter the classroom. There is a small viewing window in each studio, where parents can have a quick look at the class during the first couple of weeks of the year.
HOW LONG DO CLASSES GO FOR?
Most classes are 45 minutes in duration. Some classes run for 30 minutes or 60 minutes.
IS THERE A UNIFORM?
Yes. Our students learn best when they're dressed safely and appropriately. Our students love their special dance uniform and enjoy feeling part of our community.
View the uniform requirements in the Information Pack. Contact us to get a copy today.
WHAT IF MY CHILD MISSES A CLASS?
Make up classes are available if a class is missed. Make up classes must be made up in the same term that the class was missed. Students may make up one class per term.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Bring a water bottle (named and not glass), your dancing shoes (see uniform requirements) and a bag to put your belongings in. If you require medical supplies such as an asthma puffer or epipen, please ensure that you hand these to reception upon arrival.
IS THERE A CONCERT?
We encourage all students to participate in the Annual Showcase which is our concert. It's a wonderful experience for the students and an entertaining show for parents, family and guests.
Our pre-school students have their own show, which is more relaxed and affordable too!
DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO DO COMPETITIONS?
No. Most of our students attend classes for recreation and to work up through our levels at their own pace.
For those who are driven to undertake dance in an elite and competitive setting, we offer our Industry pre-professional setting.
CAN MY CHILD DO EXAMINATIONS?
We offer the prestigious Cecchetti Ballet syllabus at BDA offering dedicated Ballet students the opportunity to undertake annual examinations.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
We hope to see students enrol for the full calendar year to achieve the most out of their classes.
The minimum enrolment period is a term.
Payment is due in advance for the term and cannot be refunded or credited.
Still have a question? Contact us now and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
We are currently closed due to Covid 19 restrictions. To contact, please email us during this time.
